Surfing Australia and International Quarterback Partner to Drive Commercial Wave
18.09.09
Surfing Australia has appointed International Quarterback (IQ) to provide Sponsorship Strategy and Sales services, bolstering their new national administrative team dedicated to improving the professionalism, commercialisation and participation in the sport. A first for Surfing Australia, the Agency was selected based on their knowledge of the industry, extensive contacts and expertise in sponsorship strategy and structure.
Andrew Stark, Chief Executive Officer, Surfing Australia said: “We are delighted to have International Quarterback on board. It is the first time Surfing Australia has engaged an external agency to manage our commercial partnerships. They share our vision in effectively growing the sport from grassroots to the elite through tailored sponsorship opportunities, while protecting the essence of this great Australian profession and lifestyle”.
Under the new commercial structure, Surfing Australia’s existing and future partners will have access to a broader range of opportunities from local community surf schools and surf club events through to a newly created major events package - the Australian Grand Slam (World Championship Tour) pro-surfing titles.
Added Chris White, Director, International Quarterback: “Andrew has done a wonderful job in uniting the sport and developing an integrated pathway from grassroots to mainstream sponsorship opportunities with great visibility involving marquee events.
Under the new structure, we believe the gamut of opportunities available from Indigenous Events, the ‘Safe Surf Program’, to ‘Surf League’ will match the business and sponsorship objectives of a broader scope of commercial partners across several industries”.
The sponsorship opportunities include national TV programs and advertising opportunities through Channel 9 and TV production by leading global surfing TV production company The Construction Site.
